The Process:Session 1: DISC Foundations: (4 hours)Participants will examine the four behavioral styles. Examination will include the strengths, fears, and goals of four types of employees. Participants will address 3 critical concepts:
1) Different is Different – this concept outlines what happens when people hold the perception that different is wrong. Following facilitation of this concept people explore new ways of interaction. 2) Moving beyond judgment – this concept outlines a process to moving beyond automated judgment to understanding the four types of employees to accepting others to appreciating differences and finally to valuing which is your personal value from moving beyond judgment. 3) Two foundational variables – this concept explores why people prefer to behave the way they do. The first variable is how people perceive their environment and the second variable is how people perceive themselves within that environment. Session 2: DiSC Applications: (4 hours) Participants will apply the DiSC foundational concepts and explore personal performance in two critical areas:
Part 1) Conflict - Participants will explore what happens to the four types of employees when experiencing high levels of conflict and learn how to de-escalate frustrating situations. Part 2) Communication - Participants will learn how to adapt personal communication methods to meet the needs of the four types of employees to reduce personal frustration in working with different types of employees.
Session 3: Eight Management Behaviors: (2 hours) Managers apply DiSC® strategies to read other people's styles and proactively prepare for managing others. Participants will learn the eight keys to management: complimenting, delegating, correcting, motivating, coaching, decision making, developing, and problem solving.
Session 4: Four Management Approaches: (2 hours) Managers identify specific performance issues and how to shift management approaches based on the willingness and ability of employees. Managers create a strategic action plan for managing subordinate performance.
Session 5: Coaching, Role Clarification and Action Planning: (2 hours) Managers clarify subordinate roles by completing a role behavior analysis.
